Matt Carmody

Mr. Matt Carmody is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in commercial transactions, restructuring matters, and cross-border engagements. He has practiced at Steptoe, Latham & Watkins, and Clayton Utz in Australia, advising clients across the technology, media, telecommunications, and financial services industries.

Mr. Carmody’s practice includes advising on restructurings, commercial disputes, mergers and acquisitions, and liability management transactions. His cross-border work spans the United States, Australia, Latin America, and Europe. He has drafted and negotiated a wide range of transaction documents, including asset purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, licensing arrangements, and service and supply contracts.

He is known for his clear communication, analytical precision, and practical understanding of the business contexts in which legal issues arise.

Mr. Carmody’s dedication to service extends beyond his commercial work. He was recognized with the Above & Beyond Pro Bono Award from Sanctuary for Families for his representation of LGBTQ+ asylum seekers.

Before entering the legal profession, Mr. Carmody worked as a journalist for Sky News Australia, where he covered politics, media, and sports.
